Do I need to know how to play?
Yes. Open Play is designed for players who already know how to play American Mahjong. You do not need to be an expert, but you should understand the basics of the game and be comfortable playing independently. If you are new to mahjong, our Mahjong 101 class is the perfect place to start.
Can I come by myself?
Absolutely! Many of our guests attend on their own. Open Play is one of the best ways to meet other Mahjong players and become part of our growing community.
What do I need to bring?
We provide premium mahjong sets and everything you need to play. Just bring your 2026 National Mah Jongg League card, or purchase one when you arrive. Light snacks and drinks are included.
How long is Open Play?
Each session has a scheduled start and end time, which will be listed when you reserve your seat online.
Is seating limited?
Yes. To provide the best experience for everyone, seating is limited. We recommend reserving your spot in advance.
What if I need to cancel?
Open Play reservations are final. Cancellations and refunds are not available, so please confirm your date and time before completing your booking.
Where are you located?
The Mahj Mahal is located at the front of our warehouse at 10702 Trenton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63132, just off Warson Road. Parking is limited, so we encourage carpooling whenever possible.
